Bourke's Luck Potholes

Less than two hours’ drive away are the natural marvels known as the Potholes. These massive rock structures have been shaped and sculpted by the ongoing swirling of the river waters below.  The different soils have coloured the rock, staining them to form a natural piece of art in the heart of Mpumalanga. Being part of the ever-popular Panorama Route, Bourke’s Potholes welcome many tourists during the peak season (generally, between December and April), and never fails to impress.

The Echo Caves

While this cave has been here for millennia, it was only opened for public viewing in 1959, after which it was declared a National Monument. It is no surprise, for the incredible stalagmite and stalactite formations inside are nothing short of breath-taking in their beauty and wonder. These formations, as well as the sheer scale of the caves, are accentuated by the use of cunning lighting, and there are safe, navigable walkways throughout. Guided tours take 45 to 60 minutes and are conducted daily so that the true splendour of the caves is showcased to perfection.
